Chemical Composition
  • Carbon (C): 0.20% max – Ensures low carbon for good weldability and toughness.
  • Manganese (Mn): 1.60% max – Enhances strength and hardenability.
  • Silicon (Si): 0.55% max – Adds strength and supports deoxidization.
  • Phosphorus (P): 0.025% max – Maintains ductility and reduces brittleness.
  • Sulphur (S): 0.025% max – Improves machinability and steel quality.
Mechanical Properties
  • Yield Strength: 355 N/mm² minimum (for ≤ 16 mm thickness).
  • Tensile Strength: 470–630 N/mm² depending on section size.
  • Elongation: Minimum 20% in standard condition.
  • Brinell Hardness: Approximately 146–187 HB in as-rolled condition.
